Project Description:

New Central Los Angeles Middle School #3, located on the northeast block of the intersections of Vermont Ave. and 6th Street adjacent to an urban housing development in a commercial area of Central Los Angeles. The campus on a 2.6 acres site, approximately 92,306 sf. consists of two Small Learning Communities with shared facilities such as a library, multipurpose room, cafeteria, gymnasium, grass playground and roof-top athletic facilities built over a single-level underground parking structure.

VCA’s Role:

VCA provided Civil Engineering Services for both On-site and Off-site Improvements which included: design paving, ADA compliant grading, site drainage, parking lot grading, storm water management design using Standards for Urban Storm Water Mitigation Plan (SUSMP), design of curb cuts, driveways, and sidewalks along affected street for the parent, student and bus drop off areas, design new site utilities (potable, irrigation and fire water, and sanitary sewer) from new building to main points of connection at the street. In addition, VCA prepared B-Permit drawings which included driveways, handicap ramps, street signage and striping, street lights, and electrical pole relocations, traffic signals, street widening and street utility connections to City owned mainlines.
