The proposed Los Angeles Unified School District, Dorsey High School comprises of approximately 20 acres bounded by Exposition Blvd. to the North Farmdale Avenue to the East, Rodeo Road to the South and South La Brea Avenue to the West. The project site is approximately 2 acres which comprises of relocation and demolition of portable buildings, new gym, new locker room building and new laboratory building.
VCA Engineers, Inc. provided civil engineering services for this LEED silver project, the district’s first-ever design-build effort. VCA prepared construction documents which included: demolition plans, site control, grading and drainage with local Storm Water Management Design (SUSMP), hydrology and hydraulics study, cut and fill, over-excavation plans, utility connections for the new buildings and other site infrastructures, design elevations for paving and grading, ADA compliance for all walkway, parking and playground areas. VCA also prepared Earthwork Quantity Takeoffs, Engineer’s Cost Estimate, Erosion Control Plan, Strom Water Prevention Pollution Plan (SWPPP) and Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP) report. In addition VCA participated in obtaining plan-check approval of civil drawings from authorities having jurisdiction over the project.
