Project Description:

The project consists of the design and construction of South Region New Elementary School #5 for both onsite and offsite. The project is located on a 5.3 acre site at the block bounded by Saturn Avenue to north, private properties to the south, Plaska Avenue to the west and Newell Street to the east, in the City of Huntington Park. The new elementary school will serve approximately 950 students (38 classrooms) in an approximately 67,644 square feet. School facilities will include classrooms, a library, multi-purpose room, food service and lunch shelter, administration, playfields and surface parking.

VCA’s Role:

VCA Engineers provided the complete civil engineering services for the new campus both on-site and off-site. The on-site Improvements included design for the paving, grading (ADA compliant) and drainage, outdoor paved playground areas, turf area, parking structure, planting areas and all areas between buildings. Strom water management was also designed using site sustainable design methods and standards for Urban Storm Water Mitigation Plan (SUSMP). In addition, Offsite Improvements included highway dedication, street widening, street trees, street lights, street signage, striping, storm water, sanitary sewer and water connections requirements.
