Project Description:

Young Burlington Apartments was opened by Women Organizing Resources, Knowledge and Services (WORKS) with the aim to provide multi-family development for homeless youth, ages 18-24. Located West of Downtown LA, it involves design of 21-unit, 3-storey 19,593 gross square feet apartment building with 1 level basement garage at 8,806 square feet. The on-site improvements will be installed in an approximately 0.34 acre lot with common open space areas and entry plaza. This development incorporates environmental and energy-saving features and WORKS is in the process of seeking Gold certification through the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes Program.

VCA’s Role:

VCA Engineers, Inc. provided civil engineering services, which includes but not limited to schematic design, design development, and construction documents, and construction administration. The following additional services were also performed: (1) excavation sheet, (2) preparation of SWPPP application and erosion control plan, (3) hydrology analysis and report preparation and submittal with B-permit drawings, (4) preparation of as-built drawings, and (5) ALTA/ASCM surveying services.
