SUMMARY
Virgil has over 40 years of hands-on experience in civil and structural engineering related to planning, design, management, and construction of aviation, commercial, education, healthcare, housing, industrial, institutional, military, municipal, recreation and transportation facilities. He has prepared and executed engineering construction documents (plans, specifications, calculations, requisitions, contracts) in multiple capacities as project manager, project engineer, lead engineer, design engineer, and construction engineer in both the civil and structural disciplines. As a Civil Engineer, Virgil is intimately familiar with design issues related to: site development, site and facility condition assessments, public works improvements (B-Permits) storm wet utility design and capacity studies (sanitary sewer, potable and fire water), water management (LID, SWPPP, SUSMP), grading and earthwork calculations, site sustainable design (LEEDS, CHPS), site infrastructure design, capital improvement programming, roadway and streetscapes geometrics, composite utilities coordination and right of way, onsite traffic/parking circulation and analysis, hydrology and hydraulics studies and design, ADA path of travel requirements.

In addition, Virgil has also extensive design experience not only in on-site improvements as described above but also in off-site improvements involving municipal and jurisdictional interfaces such as the City of Los Angeles B-Permit, California State Water Resources Control Board, California Coastal Commission or similar requirements. As a Structural Engineer, he directly managed and participated in the structural analysis, design, and construction of various types of buildings and structures, new, renovated, and/or seismically retrofitted. These building types and structures include reinforced concrete (cast in place and tilt-up), masonry, wood, and steel.

SUMMARY
Young Nam is a Principal and Partner of VCA Engineers with 30 years of structural engineering experience. As the Principal in charge of structural engineering division, he is responsible for all structural engineering works for both Los Angeles and Irvine offices and actively involves in the projects in both offices. His experience includes structural design of educational, commercial, healthcare, cultural and high-rise buildings, nationally and internationally. Mr. Nam is specialized in seismic and wind lateral load resisting system designs, seismic evaluation, assessment and structural retrofits, as well we in design of super high-rise structural projects for schematic phase to construction administration phase. Young is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California and had served on their Board of Directors from 2010-2012. He is also a member of technical organizations such as American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), International Code Council (ICC) as well as American Institute of Steel Construction (ASIC). He is also serving Asian American Architect and Engineers Association as a board of director since 2007. He is a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer in CA and also a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer in South Korea. He is an author of technical papers and lecturers of many national and international colleges and professional organizations.
